Sr. Designer position requires10+ years of experience in Marine Vessel Design.
A Sr. Designer designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Design work will be for marine vessels and floating structures, such as ships, barges, tugs, etc. and includes application of specifications to the designs.
The ideal candidate should possess an Associate Degree, or proficient marine design experience. Knowledge of drafting procedures and materials is required; shipbuilding materials, structural, piping, mechanical, electrical and outfit design. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Ability to produce technical drawings, bill of materials, drawing quality checks, and maintain contract compliance. Experience related to marine vessels such as oceangoing vessels, patrol vessels, offshore support vessels, research vessels, tugs, and barges is a plus, but not mandatory. Excellent communication and team working skills are a must. Experience with AutoCAD and MS Office is a must. Experience with Rhino or other similar 3D modeling software tools is a plus. The ability to multitask and work within a fast-paced environment is imperative. They should be willing to travel occasionally.
