Segal’s Administration and Technology Consulting team works with Multiemployer and Public Sector clients on a wide range of benefits administration and technology issues to include: strategic planning; process-re-engineering; organizational design and recruitment; design and implementation of benefit systems, web sites and other technologies; vendor selection and; system implementation/post-implementation support. The Consultant will have significant visibility in working with both colleagues and clients and, the opportunity to collaborate with the practice leader in defining strategic direction and goals for the practice in the office/region as well as lead and support initiatives to grow a robust business.
The Role
The Consultant will collaborate with the Practice Leader, practice colleagues and other Segal Benefits Consultant staff to manage and deliver administration and technology projects. Primary accountabilities will include but may not be limited to: project managing work to include assuming day-to-day client interaction and relationship duties, developing project plans and budgets and assuming overall quality assurance of service delivery; contributing own expertise to client assignments, advising clients on the full-range of benefits administration and technology issues as described above; acting as a technical resource, providing guidance to others at Segal on Administration and Technology related matters; leading and supporting efforts to market Administration and Technology services and develop revenue via participation in new business development activities; contributing to practice development initiatives by importing knowledge pertaining to latest trends, legislative developments, etc. and supporting initiatives to develop new Administration and Technology services, work products and/or processes designed to enhance practice quality and profitability.
Specific assignments for this role include: Guiding clients with procuring pension systems and supporting services; providing oversight and quality assurance service to pension administration solution implementations; offering the client consulting advice pertaining to project management, business process and implementation best practices; preparing status reports for the client, summarizing the status of the project and summarizing progress on key project deliverables; and leading and presenting to client Executive staff, steering committees, and Boards as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree or commensurate work experience in a business and/or quantitative discipline; a Master’s Degree, Project Management Professional designation, and/or CEBS accreditation is desired; minimum of 5 years of employee benefits experience within a consulting and/or corporate environment focused on administration and/or technology services (e.g., third party administration or systems vendor); knowledge of multiemployer and/or public sector benefit plan administration (health and pension) systems and governmental legislation required; ability to work independently and in teams and, do significant travel; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated project management, technical writing, analytical and problem solving skills.
