Extreme Networks is seeking a Software Engineer who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and possesses innovative problem-solving techniques to help us build Extreme’s next generation Enterprise Cloud Networking Solutions. We are seeking to hire aSoftware Engineer to join our growing team, mostly based in Salem, NH (located 40 minutes north of Boston). This role can be filled as a remote hire, anywhere in the US.

The successful candidate will be part of the software platform development team designing, implementing, and testing high quality embedded system software for our Ethernet data networking products.

Responsibilities

Understand the Enterprise Ethernet technology, products and features.

Design, document, implement and unit-test software to meet agreed upon requirements.

Support the feature-test and system-test cycles and the customer/channel delivery phase by debugging and solving any issues that are found.

Produce quality work within the specified time frame.

Work effectively with others both inside and outside the immediate team.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field along with 1-3 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree.
  • Good C/C++/Java coding or scripting experience (at least 2years) along with strong debugging skills.
  • Some prior experience in developing software for embedded real-time systems.
  • Good conceptual knowledge of how network components work (hubs, switches and routers).
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and strong passion to succeed.
  • Ability to work with a multisite based development team.
  • Undergrad or master degree candidates with internship experience are encouraged to apply

Opportunity To Gain Skills/experience In

  • General Data Communications experience.
  • Protocol analyzers and LAN test equipment (e.g. SmartBits, IXIA, Adtech).
  • LINUX and Yocto development environment.
  • Platform level system software development for embedded Linux applications.
  • Container technology, including Docker and cloud deployment.
  • Embedded software virtualization techniques.

LOCATION: Can work REMOTE from any US location. Team is based primarily at our Salem, NH office (near Boston, MA) but most of the company is working remotely. We are utilizing a FlexFirst approach to allow employees to balance working remotely and also allowing employees (who live near an of office) the option of utilizing that space for focus or collaboration with their team.
